It’s noticable that western holidays are becoming increasingly popular day by day while chinese traditional festivals are being somewhat neglected Not long before about 10 Doctors in Beijing university and Qinghua unversity announced that we should reject the invasion of western holidays because they regard western holidays as an challenge against our traditional festivals and kly speaking I don’t quite agree with ed we should never neglect or even discard our traditonal festivals as China boasts a brilliant history and splendid traditions (examples) why can’t we absorb the meaningful western holidays and culture
There are obvious reasons why some western holidays are so popular in China On the one hand some of the western holidays which we Chinese don’t have are reasonable and meaningful such as Father’s Day and April Fool’s Day etc On the other handthe prevalence of globalization enables western culture to prevail in China Overwhelmed by such a trendChinese unconsiciously get involved in western holidays and culture
With the further development of the whole world the cultural communication between different countries and nations becomes faster and more and more important We are indeed from different nations but we are the citizens of the same world so the outstanding culture of different nations is the commom wealth of everyone on the only way for us to protect our traditional culture is to reject the foreign culture The answer is definitely no What we ought to do is to spare no effort to educate Chinese to get to know and treasure our splendid traditions instead of rejecting foreign culture Only by educating can we set our confidence and belief towards our culture Only by educating can we preserve and promote the wealth that our ancesters left for last I’d like to share a famouse saying of Gandhi with all of you that isIf you want to change the world then you must change yourself first

Honorable judges and dear friends
My name is maer dongyan i’m very happy today to stand here to share my speech my imagination and my story as an air traffic controller with all of you
I as a 35yearold air traffic controller have been working on the tower for nearly ten years through these years’ working I really come to love this job Besides as the husband of my beloved the father of my 8yearold daughter and the son of my old parents i also love my family Ahappy family
Hhowever it has been really hard to coordinate my work and my family
It’s generally considered great to be an air traffic controller by the public for the job is believed to be wellpaid and quite easy I was also one of them before i started the work But things have been entirely different from what i used to think as an air traffic controller of the new century we’re facing tasks and barriers greater and harder than ever that is we have to ensure the safety and order of the fastdeveloping civil aviation We’re burdened with pressure responsibilities the trust of hundreds of pilots the lives of tens of thousands of passengers and the hopes of millions of families every step we take every word we say is connected to the safety of passengers And disasters may occur if we’re even a little bit careless Then how can that be easy
As a man who owns a family i also have to take care of my family Still it isn’t that easy Since i took the job 10 years ago i haven’t had enough time to be with my family so many festivals have i spend with microphones but not my family and friends just because my job needs me So many times have my wifecomplained about my returning home late and having meals outside often just because my job needs me And so many times my mom or dad is sick in bed but i cannot be there with them in time just because my job needs me I cannot fully devote myself to my family because my job needs me a lot of people need me And again as a man with a family how can that be easyEven though i’m not competent as a father a husband and a son i still love my family My daughter once said that it was her happiest time to see me back from work And it’s the same with me I’m pleased and grateful to see that my family can support and understand my work and my little devotion to them
I have made many sacrifices as an air traffic controller I really feel sorry for my family but as i help pilots find their destinations under terrible weather conditions and then hear thanks from them i’m satisfied and as i see planes taking off and landing safely and make sure that hundreds more families can get together i’m comforted I even seem to be able to see the happy smiles on their is my job though i cannot enjoy much of the happiness my family brings to me i can experience the sense of responsibility through my work I’ll never regret this regret choosing my job It is through these years that i know what responsibility and devotion really mean And it is through these years that i realize what family really means to mesupporting and understanding I really appreciate them
With my family as an anchor for me i firmly believe that i can overcome all the difficulties on my way and make a contribution to the cause of air traffic control and i believe i am and always will be a member of civil aviation and my family as well

firstly lhasa has a long history it is the political cultural and economic center of tibet it has lots of famous sights to offer the potala palace is the most famous a magnificent and wonderful place to look at in my opinion it is a unique artistic achievement of the tibetan people likewise the architecture carvings and paintings throughout the city show hard work wisdom and bravery of our people
secondly led by the reforming and opening policy of china lhasa has changed a lot many new things have arrived up here changing the face of the city the old and new lie side by side in lhasa
many new buildings schools and roads have been built here furthermore the qing—zang railway leading to lhasa is being built many shopping centers have been opened and modern technology like telecommunications is spreading the whole city looks prosperous and our tibetan people take on a new look every festival people walk around freely on the new wide and smooth streets wearing the beautiful traditional costumes
right now i am looking forward to a festival called shoduumln which comes in june for eating yoghurt at this time all my family and i gather for a picnic together at the norbulinka a famous garden in the garden we sing tibetan songs dance guo zhuang on the grass eat zanba drink butter tea and barley beer on the beautiful carpet as well we enjoy our life i think that this festival exhibits the openminded and optimistic character of the tibetan people
finally i love my hometown i love the people in my hometown

I’m very glad to stand here and give you a short speech We all know that Bingxin has a famous saying we always admire the beauty of flowers but its sprout was watered by tears of struggle and rained by blood of sacrifice So for the majority behind their success are filled of sweat and tears Eagle flying in the vast firmament must be experienced the pain of countless times fall under the cliff then hammered out a pair of volley wings A shinning of pearls inevitably suffered countless body friction and numerous waves’ shock In this view a real successful people and he must experienced numerous times to stand up again and agin after failed because without sweat and tears on the life road no one can casually get the beautiful flowers Alfter a heavy fall Shi Tiesheng lost his legs it must be a heavy blow for anyone But he didn＇t lose faith in life but use his brain and hands to show the infinite love of life
Beethoven was blind and deaf but he still had written the HeroDestinynd so on a large number of music works in his unfortunately life he doggedly gripped the fate of the throat They all had a fall but they are strong enough to stand up fight against fate and misfortune finally they succeed So for each of us wrestling is not terrible lose confidence and courage in life is the most terribe thing In my opionion the sweat and tears during the life’ journey are very important for us they hone our will and enrich our experience As the saying goes how can you see the rainbow without a rainy day while you don＇t work hard and not struggle how can you gain the successful flowers All in all the sweat and tears on the struggling road is inevitable don’t look for shortcuts anymore steadfast walk every step we will succeed in the end So belief yourself nothing is impossile just do it Thank you for taking your time to listen to my speech I hope in the near future we all can be successful
